Overall Episode Rating: 7.5/10 stars The flashbacks between Kat angrily smashing her pinata while Tanner and Davia are dancing on the date really sold this episode for me. I also thoroughly enjoyed the game of truth or dare. However, other than those events, the episode felt a little slow.
Main Events of The Episode
My Perspective
Sam from Bachelor in Paradise Canada comes down to the beach right before the rose ceremony. Sean thinks this is his one chance from god to stay on the beach.

I LOVE SAM! I think she’s funny and the perfect ratio of chaotic to rational for paradise.
I was so happy to see Sean get humbled and put in his place when Sam called him a baby. Also I loved when Same openly asked Sean if she was his last shot to stay on the beach.
I don’t really see any chemistry between her and any of the men at this moment, but I’m excited to see where she goes this season.
The rose ceremony happens. Rachel’s rose goes to Brayden. Eliza’s rose goes to Aaron B. Kylee’s rose goes to Aven. Olivia’s rose goes to John Henry. Kat’s rose goes to Tanner. Jess’s rose goes to Blake. Mercedes’ rose goes to Tyler. Sam’s rose goes to Peter. Sean, Aaron S., Will, and John B.
I wasn’t surprised by any of the roses from this episode except maybe Sam’s.
Personally, I think I would have picked John B., but I do understand that, for Sam, Peter was the better pick.
I was happy to see Sean leave. Don’t get me wrong he’s an entertaining guy (especially with how delusional he is), but with what he pulled with Rachel, I think he deserved to go home
I am a little sad to see John B. leave so soon. Will on the other hand at least had time to explore even if his end to paradise was a little sad. I wish them both the best in the future.
It’s Kat’s birthday, Kat is ready for a darty.
On the topic of Kat’s birthday, I do agree that this is an unfortunate situation.
However, honestly, if I was in paradise and it was my birthday, I would try to keep it as lowkey as possible. I feel like the producers always try to f*ck with people on their birthdays.
Unrelated, but no one at the age of 27 should be using the term “darty.” The fact that they had to put a definition on the screen killed me.
Davia arrives down at the beach, only talks to Tanner and then asks him out on a date. Tanner says yes.
It was such a POWER MOVE for Davia to ask Tanner out immediately. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that level of decisiveness from anyone in Paradise, and I really respect it.
I think that was a great way to kick off her time in paradise. Unfortunately for Kat, I think Tanner and Davia are going to work out.
I also appreciated Tanner taking the time to talk to Kat before he went on the date. I think he was as respectful as possible to Kat while still showing Davia he was interested.
Rachel gets a date card and takes Brayden on the date. They make each other human pinatas.

Rachel and Brayden are such a breath of fresh air in paradise. I love their fun relationship.
Everyone sings Happy Birthday to Kat while she sobs on the couch. She throws the cake Tanner got her in the ocean.
This was one of the most unhinged and hilarious paradise scenes I have ever seen. Everyone looked so terribly awkward while singing Kat happy birthday, even the kitchen staff looked like they just wanted to disappear.
However, I will come to Kat’s defence here because we never actually saw her throw the cake in the ocean herself, so that might have been an editing trick. I think she probably just angrily stormed off, but didn’t actually throw the cake in the ocean.
Kat “doesn’t care” that Tanner is on a date. While Tanner and Davia are dancing after their dinner, Kat angrily smashes her birthday pinata open.

I think it is valid for Kat to be upset about this situation, but I think the aggressive yelling the entire day was getting to be a little much. I hope she takes some time to heal post-paradise.
The montage of Taner and Davia dancing while Kat smashes open her pinata was comedy gold. Also, unrelated, but how were Tanner and Davia’s dancing skills so good? Like they were doing whole a*s lifts?
Those left on the beach play a game of truth or dare. It’s revealed that Jess may have some doubts/reservations about her relationship with Blake. Other highlights include: Mercedes and John Henry makeout, Peter awkwardly kisses Kylee, and Olivia sucks on John Henry’s finger.
I thought the game of truth or dare was just the right amount of fun and messy.
I’ve never seen a super strong connection between Jess and Blake, so I’m glad someone finally prompted the two of them to talk about it.
Olivia and John Henry have a cute makeout session in the pool together.
I LOVE this couple! They are both just so sweet and awkward around each other. I’m really rooting for them to stick together.
Blake and Jess have a conversation about their relationship. Jess mentions she hasn’t really put herself out there to explore other connections and figure her feelings out.
I think we all saw this coming to some extent. I just don’t see any special connection between the two of them, I think they could both benefit from exploring other options.
Kat has a conversation with Davia the next morning after her and Tanner’s date. Davia tells Kat that she thinks their date went well.
This was a thoroughly awkward conversation. However, I really did appreciate Davia’s maturity to have this conversation in the first place. She did really take the steps necessary to learn about the situation from both sides.
Kat and Tanner go to have a conversation, and then the episode ends on a cliffhanger.
I feel bad for Tanner, but I know I am going to be thoroughly entertained next week when I see Kat yell at him again.
Predictions for Next Episode
Kat yells at Tanner, and somehow turns him picking Davia into her rejecting him
Blake and Jess go their different ways on the beach. Jess and Tyler get together. Tyler ends up liking Jess more than Mercedes.
Kat attempts to go for John Henry, but ultimately John Henry chooses to stay with Olivia.
Eliza and Aaron B. become official boyfriend and girlfriend.
I’m not sure if this will happen next episode or not, but I foresee some trouble in paradise between Kylee and Aven.
Sam starts exploring some of the other men besides Peter.
