Bachelor In Paradise - Episode Recaps (S9, E4)

Funny & drama-filled, but too much time was spent talking about the poo baby. The Sean, Jess, Rachel, and Brayden situation made the episode for me.

Sam has to leave paradise because she has not pooped in 10 days.

• I do feel bad for Sam, but I’m glad she put her health first

• What I’m confused about is why didn’t Aaron S. offer to leave with her? He has no other connections on the beach, so I think it would have been a smart and sweet gesture to leave with Sam

• Also, while the situation was funny, I don’t think the first 10-15 minutes of the episode needed to be dedicated to the poop situation. It was a little much.

John Henry comes down to the beach very nervous and with a date card, he chats with a couple women: Kat, Kylee, and Olivia.

• WE LOVE JOHN HENRY!

• He’s charming, and I thought it was adorable how nervous he was when he came down and his hands were shaking with the date card.

During John Henry & Kylee’s Chat, Kylee says “if we were to go on a date, I would definitely be open to it.”

• This seemed interesting because cut to later in the episode when Kylee and Aven are chatting, Kylee says ““Honestly, at the end of the day, I’m genuinely happy with this that I don’t want to fuck it up.”

• Then Kylee and Aven both agree they won’t go on dates with other people.

• This felt like a quick turn around on Kylee’s part and it makes me question the stability of Kylee & Aven’s relationship.

John Henry asks Olivia out on the date, and they go on a cute spa date. Olivia touches base with Peter before going on the date.

• I love this couple, I think John Henry and Olivia had a very sweet and cute dynamic on their date.

• I see the chemistry between them, and I am rooting for them as a couple

• I also appreciate Olivia taking the time to check-in with Peter on the date

• However, I was confused about how strongly Peter & Olivia seemed to be feeling for each other? I honestly thought Olivia just tried talking to Peter for a rose, and I didn’t realize there was more to their relationship???

John B. comes down to the beach, and he asks Eliza on a date. Eliza, and John B. go on a dinner date.

• I really like John B. - I think he’s cute, funny, and a great addition to the beach.

• However, I was a little confused about Eliza’s rationale for going on the date? Essentially, she was saying because Aaron B. already had a chance to explore his options on the beach she should to?

• So, I was a little confused about the entire situation.

Olivia comes back from her date & her and Peter have two chats throughout the night.

• Before their talk, I thought that Olivia was going to 100% break-up with Peter when she talked to him, but she still seems equally as invested in him as she is in John Henry.

• However, in my opinion the interactions between Peter and Olivia are incredibly awkward. Their hug was awkward and the lead up to their first kiss felt awkward.

• Overall, I am team John Henry!

Eliza comes back from her date and checks in with Aaron B.

• I thought their conversation was sweet

• Eliza told Aaron B. she was still thinking about him during her date with John, so it made me feel like she is leaning more towards Aaron B.

• Its clear Aaron B. is completely smitten with Eliza, especially after the whole fig jam metaphor [see our home page for that clip on videos of the week!]

Wells introduces the Paradise truth box which prompts Sean to talk about how he knows Rachel really likes him, but he feels more of a connection with Jess. Sean confesses his interest in Jess based solely off of one conversation where they both said they enjoy Taylor Swift? Jess friend zones him, and basically says she is open to other people, but not him.

• I’m not exactly sure what gave Sean the confidence to shoot his shot with Jess without any indication at all that Jess was into him???

• I almost feel bad for the man, because he was so delusional that he seemed genuinely caught off guard by the fact that Jess was not interested in him.

• Also was his only rationale behind them being compatible together, their shared appreciation for Taylor Swift??

• I was overall just shocked by Sean’s audacity with every sentence that came out of his mouth

• I love Jess for humbling him with her “like I love you as a friend” comment.

Brayden goes to talk to Rachel, and he tells her what Sean has been saying about how “she’s really into him.”

• Maybe a controversial take, but I appreciated this move from Brayden.

• It screwed over Sean for being a jerk, while also getting him closer to the girl he was interested in. I’m really enjoying Brayden on paradise.

Rachel confronts Sean, and Sean tries to weasel his way out of the situation.

• I don’t think I’ve ever been more shocked then when Sean tried to tell Rachel that things didn’t work out with Jess because “they didn’t communicate effectively.”

• There are literally cameras on this beach, might as well be honest and just admit she rejected you.

• However, I absolutely loved the energy Rachel brought to this conversation.

• She fully ripped Sean apart and I especially enjoyed it when she snapped at Sean for being too close to her after asking for space from him.

The rose ceremony kicks off and Aaron S. smashes the paradise truth box open, there are two main categories of comments: 1. Rachel and Brayden should make out & 2. Subtle (but true) digs at Kat’s character

• I was thoroughly entertained by Aaron S.’s “no f*cks given” attitude when smashing the box.

• I’m a little confused about why he couldn’t just open the box normally, but I enjoyed the outcome, nonetheless.

• I think it was very funny how the box seemed to be stuffed with comments from Brayden & his friends

Tanner tries to talk to Kat about the Truth Box submissions, and she is unreceptive. Aaron S. tries to talk to her behavior, and she is also unreceptive. Kat goes on max volume mode and starts yelling about the entire situation during her individual interview. Video included below, because it was quite ridiculous - we just need you all to see it for yourselves.

• While I could maybe defend Kat for wanting to move past the Brayden situation, I cannot find any explanation for why she decided to start yelling at max volume at everyone.

• She also just handles all of these situations incredibly distastefully and does not make any effort to understand any other person’s point of view.

• I think it is safe to say Kat is the current VILLIAN of Paradise.

• Also, I think after this whole episode, Tanner will most likely be looking elsewhere for love. I don’t think anyone can ignore red flags that big.

Rachel & Brayden make out for a good chunk of time.

• I LOVE RACHEL & BRAYDEN TOGETHER! It was so unexpected, but I think they have a fun and exciting energy together.

• I was also dying over the revenge make-out edits, where the cameras kept flashing to Sean’s sad face.

We get the heads-up that a new woman is coming to the beach before the rose ceremony, so now only 4 men are going home. Sean believes this is his chance to stay on the beach.

• I’m excited for a new woman on the beach, but I don’t think it’s going to be Sean who hits it off with her.

• I think there are better men on the beach than Sean that deserve a rose.

Predictions for Next Episode

Jess’s rose is going to Blake

I don’t see a special spark between them, so I don’t think they will last

Kat’s rose is going to Tanner

BUT I think Kat will be going home next week, and I think Tanner is probably over Kat after all the yelling

Mercedes’ rose is going to Tyler

BUT I don’t think they will last

Eliza’s rose is going to Aaron B.

I also think they will leave paradise together

Rachel’s rose is going to Brayden

I think they are super fun together, but ultimately, I don’t think they will last.

Olivia’s rose is going to John Henry

I think they are a very cute couple BUT I don’t think they will last

Kylee’s rose is going to Aven

I think they will last through Paradise, but break-up later

The new girl’s rose will go to John B.

Aaron S., Sean, Will, and Peter will go home
