Bachelor in Paradise - Episode Recaps (S9 E6)

Overall Episode Rating: 8/10 Stars

Although this episode was a little less intense than previous episodes, I feel like I’m finally getting to know the different members of the beach better this episode. I’m also enjoying seeing the more emotional interactions as couples start to build genuine feelings.

Main Events of The Episode

  • My Perspective

Tanner pulls Kat to talk about where he is at after his date with Davia. Kat tells him she’s disappointed in how he handled things, and Tanner tells Kat that he doesn’t see a future with her outside of paradise.

  • This entire interaction escalated quite quickly. I thought this was especially funny because I think Kat is more mad at the fact that she was broken up with than the fact that the relationship ended.

  • It’s clear that she’s a little insecure about the whole situation because she really campaigned very hard “to set the record straight” that he did not break-up with her and it was mutual.

  • I think Tanner handled the situation to the best of the abilities, and I do feel bad that he’s being painted as an “f-boy” to the girls, but I don’t think this situation will affect him much.

Jess misses Blake. Blake is giving Jess space to explore the things she wants to explore.

  • I’m a little confused with where Jess’s head is at? If she was so unsure about Blake these past couple weeks, why is she finding it so hard to be apart from him now?

Genevie comes down to the beach with a date card. She pulls Tyler first, Mercedes is nervous. Tyler says it's still early on in paradise and everyone is mostly still open.

  • I was confused when Tyler said it’s still early-on because are we not already OVER HALF WAY through paradise?

  • I’m also a little confused because I thought he was a little more into Mercedes than it appears.

Genevie asks Blake on the date, and he says yes. Blake pulls Jess to talk before he goes on the date, and explains that maybe a shake-up is what they need to figure things out.

  • I think it’s interesting that Jess didn’t think Blake would say yes, given the fact that she just told Blake that SHE WANTS TO EXPLORE things. I don’t think she is concerned about losing Blake, I think it might be more so about not getting a rose, and having to leave paradise.

  • I’m overall just confused because it also seems like there’s very genuine feelings between the two of them, so I’m not sure where the disconnect is coming from.

Kat tells Eliza that Charity has given her only warnings to stay away from Aaron B. Kat says Charity is her best friend? This is because apparently Aaron B. has a scandalous situation with an ex-girlfriend that might not be an “ex”.

  • I think this was a fair move from Kat. I don’t think she was trying to “stir the pot.” She only told Eliza, and she told her in private. I think she told her from a genuine place of concern and honesty, but I do think this information should be taken with a grain of salt.

  • I’m sure whatever happened could have easily been exaggerated or twisted to maybe make Aaron B. seem like a worse guy than he is.

Becca from Zach’s season comes down to the beach with a date card. Becca asks Brayden on the date, and he says yes. Brayden touches base with Rachel before the date.

  • There’s obviously great chemistry between Brayden and Becca. They seemed like they just clicked right away, and they are oddly enough a couple I could see dating for a little bit out of paradise

  • I did find it odd however, how excited he was despite having such a great date with Rachel just 24 hours ago. Also, seeing Brayden carrying Becca to go get ready for the date. would have hurt me so much if I were Rachel.

  • I don’t think Rachel and Brayden were meant to be together long-term, but I do really feel bad that she never seems to catch a break on this show.

Jess is having a mid-paradise existential crisis. Tyler checks-in with how Jess is doing, and wants to explore if there is any potential connection there. Jess and Tyler make out on the day bed. Tyler tells Jess he’s interested in her.

  • I find it interesting that despite Jess saying she wanted to explore things with Tyler, Jess spends the first half of their conversation just talking to Tyler about Blake.

  • I don’t genuinely think there is too much of a connection between Jess and Tyler. I think they are simply both just attracted to each other, and confused about their feelings about their current connections.

Brayden and Becca go on a tantra date. Brayden says this date blew Rachel and his out of the water.

  • There is such a spark between the two of them. I don’t think Brayden was thinking of Rachel at all during the date, which made me very sad for Rachel.

  • However, back on the beach, I found it very cute how both of Rachel’s exes (Tyler and Aven) were both concerned for her situation

Kat begins hardcore shooting her shot with John Henry. Olivia interrupts Kat and John Henry’s conversation to take him. John Henry tells Olivia that she is his #1 and she is his priority.

  • I feel incredibly awkward vibes everytime Kat tries to talk to John Henry. They seem to have nothing in common at all. Whatever connection might be there would be incredibly surface level, and I don’t think it would amount to anything.

  • I really like John Henry and Olivia. I thought it was funny how he found it cute that she was a little jealous and possessive. I think Olivia genuinely really likes him. However, I think Olivia needs to calm down with the hate towards Kat. Kat will be Kat, there’s no use sinking down to her level.

Eliza confronts Aaron B. about what Kat told her about Charity’s warnings.

  • This conversation left me feeling very weird about Aaron B. I don’t think he’s the devil by any means, but nothing he was saying made much sense to me? Everything felt hard to follow, and it just overall gave suspicious energy.

Charity comes down to the beach. Eliza and Charity have a conversation about Aaron B. Meanwhile, Aaron B. confronts Kat.

  • I’m really excited to see what Charity has to say first-hand about the situation. I don’t understand why Aaron B. was so mad at Kat. She was just trying to be a good friend. I think Aaron B.’s anger/confrontation makes him, unfortunately, look quite guilty in this situation.

Predictions for Next Episode:

  1. John Henry will pick Olivia over Kat

  2. Eliza and Aaron will call it quits

  3. Blake and Jess officially end things with each other

  4. Rachel, unfortunately may go home 🙁

  5. Kat finally leaves the beach

  6. Tyler chooses Jess over Mercedes
